November 14, 2013:
A recent feature on the secret shame of antenatal depression in one of the UK Sunday newspaper supplements caught the eye of EFT and TBP (The Balance Procedure) practitioner Alan Cox.
“I have to admit that antenatal depression (AND) is not something I had ever heard of,” says Alan, “and according to the magazine I am not alone.
“AND affects 15 per cent of women having babies in the UK. But according to psychologist, Dr Sandra Wheatley, the silence surrounding AND is where we were 10 years ago with post-natal depression.
“Understandably women worry about being judged or deemed incapable of being a good mother if they admit they are depressed. There are huge fears surrounding this, and the medical profession say it’s a massive barrier to asking for help.
“Our technique, The Balance Procedure, has been introduced to many newly pregnant women with fantastic results. Whether any of those where depressed we don’t know, but what is apparent is when these ladies used the technique daily their pregnancies went very smoothly and in all cases led to pain-free births.
“The Balance Procedure has also successfully been used on people with depression, and I would like to share our technique with pregnant women whether depressed or not.”
Alan continues that if there is enough interest in this topic, his aim is to run a study on it and he is calling for those intested in participating.
“It will be inexpensive to take part in and easily understood by any participants.”
Those interested should contact Alan directly by email: and for more information on the condition, visit the PANDAS Foundation site.
