Which is the best event management system?

Over the past year Dr Rangana Choudhuri has been evaluating a range of event management software packages. Here she summarises her experiences.

Cost: £2.99 per delegate that registers
Usability: This is the champagne of event management. It has many useful functions, for example being able to review activity by delegate as well as event. In addition it remembers delegates so they do not have to input all their data every time. The only downside is that it takes time to set up and get used to the functionality. I have to say though the help desk is very helpful.
Recommendation: Yes, a bit expensive and takes some time to set up

Cost: 2.5% of ticket value plus $0.99 and upto a max of $9.95 per delegate
3% for credit card or Google check out processing
Usability: Easy to use intuitive system, however very expensive.
Recommendation: Worth it for free events and events with fewer than 10 delegates. Otherwise too expensive.

Cost: 4.75% of ticket price
2.75% payment fee
Free personal events are free
Free business events charged at £2 per delegate
Usability: Easy to use intuitive system, however very expensive. No, not cost-effective.
Recommendation: Only good for free personal events.

Cost: Only $1 per delegate
Usability: Easy to use system. Ability to copy events. The only down-side is delegates have to enter their data each time they book onto an event and the credit card payment is via Paypal.
Recommendation: Yes, very cost-effective

All event management systems link to social media as standard. We will be trialing another system at the end of the year which is very exciting and integrates event management with e-mail newsletters as well as a contact management system. It will revolutionise the market and we are looking forward to working with them. Will keep you posted.
